Terms and Conditions
Eligibility
Any resident of the United States may take the pledge and assign it to a participating school. Determination of whether a contestant meets these criteria shall be under the supervision of the Alliance of Downriver Watersheds whose decisions shall be final in all matters relating to this contest. Employees, contractors, and any other individual having a financial relationship of any kind with the Huron River Watershed Council are not eligible to participate. This competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law.
Sponsor
The Sponsor is the Alliance of Downriver Watersheds, facilitated by OHM Advisors, 34000 Plymouth Road, Livonia, MI 48150, (734)522-6711, Attention Valerie Novaes.
To Pledge
Pledging opens at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on Monday, October 14, 2024 and ends at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on Monday, October 28, 2024. To enter, fill out the appropriate form on the contest website, www.schoolsforcleanwater.org. Online pledges are counted only for those who completely fill out the pledge form, select a school to receive their pledge, and submit the pledge online. Limit one pledge per person.
Winning Criteria
The schools which receive the most pledges during the contest period will be named as the first, second, or third place.
School Extra Credit Activities
Any eligible school that participates in an extra credit activity (See School Resources Page) and submits a description of the activity, the name of the school and a photo of students participating in the activity through our Extra Credit Submission form on or before 9:00 a.m. ET on Monday October 28, 2024 can earn the equivalent of 50 pledges maximum for a “student pledge poster” activity and/or a 100 pledges maximum for a “blue shirt day” activity. By submitting photos, the participating school grants the Alliance of Downriver Watersheds permission to use them for marketing and outreach purposes related to the Schools for Clean Water Contest and the ADW’s work.
Prizes
The Sponsor will award $5,000 in cash prizes to the winning schools as follows:
• First Place: $1,500
• Second Place: $1,250
• Third Place: $1,000
In addition, any school that doesn’t win first, second, or third place — but collects 100 pledges or more — will be eligible to win one of five “wild card” prizes of $250. Wild card winners will be drawn at random.
Claiming Prize/Release
Winning schools will be notified by phone or email on or about November 4, 2024. All pledge signers will be notified of the winning schools on or about November 4, 2024. Sponsor is not responsible for fraudulent calls or E-mails made to entrants not by Sponsor.
Internet
If for any reason, this contest is not capable of running as planned due to an infection by a computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the contest, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Submissions. The Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the Sponsor due to technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participating in this Contest or downloading any materials in this contest. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON (S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. In the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of any entry based on an E-mail address, the entry will be declared made by the “Authorized Account Holder” of the e-mail address submitted at time of Submission. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person, 18 years of age or older, who is assigned to an E-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, education institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning E-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Use of automated devices is not valid for Submission.
General
In regard to the prizes, no substitution, assignment, or transfer is permitted except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event that an offered prize is unavailable. By entering the contest, each participant (1) agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions; (2) agrees to release Sponsor, its member jurisdictions; vendors; affiliates, subsidiaries; and all related entities from all liability, claims, action, or proceedings relating to participation in the contest and from injuries or damages relating to the acceptance or use of the prize; and (3) consents to the use of the contestant’s name, voice, pictures, likeness, and entry for editorial, publicity, advertising and promotional purposes in any medium throughout the world in perpetuity without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.
Name of Prize Recipient/Terms and Conditions
To receive the names of the winning organizations, (available after November 4, 2024), or a copy of the Terms and Conditions, send a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to: “Schools for Clean Water Contest”, c/o Huron River Watershed Council, 117 North First Street, Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Please specify “Terms and Conditions” or “Name of Grant Recipient” on the outer mailing envelope.
Personal Information We Collect From You
By registering to participate in contests offered by the SPONSOR, users may provide “Personal Information.” For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, Personal Information shall mean individually identifiable information from or about an individual including, but not limited to: (a) a first and last name; (b) mailing or physical address for themselves or an organization they represent, including street name and name of city or town; (c) an e-mail address; (d) a telephone number; and/or (e) any other information from or about an individual that is combined with any of (a) through (d) above.

We will use your Personal Information to determine whether you are eligible to participate in this contest, sign the pledge, and/or receive the prizes. We will use your Personal Information for customer service, to provide you with information that you may request, to provide you with information regarding new services or Promotions available at the Website, to customize your experience on the Website and/or to contact you when necessary in connection with transactions entered into by you on the Website. We may also use your Personal Information for internal contest purposes, such as analyzing and managing our contest.
Your IP Address
Each time that you visit the Website, our web server automatically recognizes your IP address and the web page from which you came. Your IP address is used to help identify you and to gather broad demographic information about you. We also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers, to administer the Website and to better serve you in using the services and other features contained within the Website.

Please be aware that the Website may contain links to other websites on the Internet that are owned and/or operated by third parties. Such websites have their own privacy policies and data collection, use and disclosure practices. Please review each applicable website’s privacy policy. We do not endorse, nor are we responsible for, the accuracy of the privacy policies and/or terms and conditions of each of the advertisers’ and/or third parties’ websites accessible through this Website. The entities that advertise and/or place banner ads on the Website are independent third parties and are not affiliated with us. Minors
Individuals under the age of eighteen (18) are not permitted to pledge online. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children. We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate and monitor the interactive activities of their children.
Removal of Your Personal Information/Opting Out
At your request, we will remove your pledge and personal information from our database. You may do so by sending an e-mail to info@allianceofdownriverwatersheds.com.
Your Acceptance of these Terms
By using the Website including, without limitation, registering for and entering any Promotion, signing up for offers and/or continuing to receive information from us, you agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add and/or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time.
